SKI GARANTEE LES SOMMETS

Dear Clients,

We understand that the abrupt end of the ski season linked to the current social context has been difficult for everyone and we hope that you and your families are well. Given the situation, we want to reassure you that we are working hard with the deciding officials to guarantee winter operations for next season. Although skiing is surely not a priority for you at this time, we would like to let you know that we are working on different opening scenarios, so that we are ready when the situation returns to normal.

In addition, and in order to alleviate the challenges related to this extraordinary situation, we are announcing today the implementation of a new Ski Guarantee for the 2020-21 season.

SKI GUARANTEE LES SOMMETS (New!)

The Ski Guarantee les Sommets offers exclusive and unique advantages to all Sommets customers:

  • Obtain a credit or full refund for your Snow School program or Race team program, if requested before the first day of the course or training.
  • Ask for the postponement of your 2020-21 season to 2021-22 without additional cost and price change, if requested before December 15, 2020
  • Once the ski season has started, you can request a credit for season pass or program, according to the cancellation policy and without special conditions.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS GUARANTEE?

This guarantee, unique to les Sommets, applies to all annual passes (regular and optional) and all Snow School programs, including Racing Teams.

IS IT FREE?

Yes. This guarantee is free and automatically applicable to all purchases of 2020-21 programs and passes. This coverage is retroactive to all purchases made since last February.

HOW THE CREDIT/REFUND WORKS MORE SPECIFICALLY?

For the 2020-2021 ski season, les Sommets offers all customers the possibility of obtaining a credit or full refund of their purchase before December 15, 2020. These will be granted without conditions and may be executed at any time. Note that a pass holder who has already started his season, by skiing before December 15, 2020 in one of the Sommets resorts, cannot claim the Ski Guarantee less Sommets. In this case, the cancellation policy will be applicable. For Snow School and Racing Team programs, customers can request a credit on their purchase at any time until the first ski or snowboard lesson or the first training session has taken place.

AND THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

Once the season has started, the cancellation policy will be in effect. In the past, this policy applied only in the event of illness or relocation. For the 2020-21 season, customers can request a credit at any time without reason or condition.

Updated March 22, 2020 - (3 pm)

Dear guest,

As announced by the ASSQ (Association des Stations de Ski du Québec) in its latest press release, all of Quebec's ski resorts, including les Sommets, are now closed for the 2019-2020 Season.

We understand that this announcement raises many questions for our customers, and we greatly appreciate their patience. Several decisions are currently being analyzed by our management team. More information will be communicated in the coming days.

However, we are able today to answer some of these questions:

SNOW SCHOOL
Snow School Programs
Please take note that week no.10 of Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Sommet Olympia, Sommet Morin Heights and Sommet Gabriel's Snow School Programs which were to be held on March 21 and 22, 2020, will not take place this season.

In the near future, a detailed communication will be provided to you with all the next steps. Since then, we are asking our clientele to avoid communicating with our call center, due to an overload of calls.

Private lessons
Due to a suspension of activities as of March 16, all customers who reserved a private lesson in one of our les Sommets' Snow School, will be reached by phone soon.

SEASON PASS
As announced by the ASSQ (Association des Stations de Ski du Québec) in its latest press release  and under the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act: " Season pass holders will not be eligible for financial compensation since the passes were valid only until the end of the 2019-2020 season, which has now ended, as per the government order"

More details here

TICKETS
Regular tickets:
Regular 2019-2020 unused tickets will be automatically accepted free of charge in winter 2020-2021 and according to the respective purchasing conditions for each.

Discount tickets:
Tickets purchased in advance in our Discount Tickets calendar (with a specific date of use) will be valid at all times next winter 2020-2021 and according to the respective purchasing conditions for each.

RACING TEAM
All Race Team members will soon receive communication in which all details related to their particular situation will be explained.

Regarding next year's registrations for a race program, which are restricted by quota, we kindly ask parents for their patience and to wait until we issue the information in the coming weeks.

MOUNTAIN ACCESS
Access prohibited to the mountain. We appeal our clients to respect the closed mountain instruction and not to try accessing ski areas to practice winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding, alpine hiking, fat bike, snowshoeing, sliding or snowmobiling.

Please understand that banning access to our mountains is first and foremost for your safety. There are no patrols on-site, motorized vehicles are used (groomers, snowmobiles), and the trails are not maintained, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

LOCKERS, SEASONAL RENTAL AND REPAIR SHOPS
Lockers and repair shops:
Following measures issued by government authorities, no access will be granted to recuperate equipment from lockers and repair shops. Your material is secure and locked.

Seasonal rental:
Regarding seasonal rentals (long term equipment rental), we ask parents to keep the equipment at home for the time being.

We will send you a communication when new measures are issued.

EVENTS
The season being over, we had to cancel all our events for the rest of the winter season 2020.

SOMMET MORIN HEIGHTS' CAMPING AND CABINS
The Sommet Morin Heights' Camping and Cabins is closed. Reservations are suspended until further notice.

COMMUNICATIONS
We ask our customers to be patient in the current situation. Several instructions will be issued in the coming days. All the information shared today is the same available to our customer service teams.

If you need to contact us, an email address has been set up. Please correspond via info@sommets.com.

Finaly, we understand you would prefer receiving answers right away. However, be aware that we are dependent of the government authorities' announcements and by how fast the situation is developing. We do everything we can to contribute socially to limiting the pandemic. All requests will be addressed as quickly as possible and within our capabilities.

We thank you for your trust and your understanding.

Good luck,

Louis Philippe Hébert
President and Chief Executive Officer les Sommets

Forbidden access to the mountain

Sunny days and lots of snow?  We understand the need to play on the mountain.

However, we must prohibit all activities on the mountain, including skiing, snowboarding, alpine touring, snowshoe, mountain bike, sliding and snowmobile. Moreover, we do not want to compromise your safety. There are no on-site patrols, motorized vehicles are used (as groomers and snowmobiles), and the trails are not maintained, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.

You must know, we also are passionate about sports and outdoor activities. We fully understand "the call of the mountain." But let’s be united in this exceptional period. Respect this prohibition. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Updated March 15, 2020 (2:00 pm)

Indeed, this exceptional situation gave rise to many questions from our customers. The policies and procedures for cancellations will be reviewed over the next week. We must be understanding in this unprecedented situation for our society.

SNOW SCHOOL PROGRAM:

An email will be sent this week to all clients with a Snow School program with les Sommets. The schedule for the weekend of March 21-22 remains indefinite.

CANCELLATION:

Cancellation policies and procedures will be revised this week. We will make an announcement on our website as well as on Facebook when these measures can be applied.

COMMUNICATIONS:

We ask for the cooperation of our customers to be patient and understanding in the current context. Please limit your contacts to the company. Whether it's by phone, email, or social media, and concerning compensation methods. We will communicate all new procedures in due course.

We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience of this short notice. We look forward to welcoming you back to our Summits when circumstances improve.

Updated March 15, 2020 (7:30 am)

Regarding indoor gatherings of more than 250 people, corrective measures have been put in place to restrict access to company buildings to less than 250 people at the same time.

Updated March 14, 2020 (5:30 pm)

We believe it is essential to inform our customers of the practices and directives in place to ensure the proper conduct of our ski resort operations and our customer's safety during this period.
We are monitoring the situation very closely and are in constant contact with local and provincial government authorities and health officials to assess the evolution. Since the situation with COVID-19 (coronavirus) is changing rapidly, we have implemented several measures to meet the needs of our customers and employees.

As of this date, the Government of Quebec has requested the cancellation of indoor gatherings of more than 250 people until further notice. Ski resorts are not affected by this measure. They can, therefore, and for the time being, continue their usual activities.

According to the recommendations issued by the authorities responsible for public health and the Centers for control and prevention of diseases, here are the precautions we have put in place.

These measures are evolving and may change at any time:

  • We ask clients with flu symptoms or who suspect they have flu symptoms to stay at home.
  • Anyone who has visited a foreign country and back since March 12 will be restricted access to our facilities as per guidelines from the Public Health Agency.
  • We asked all of our employees with symptoms of Covid-19 (or in contact with a loved one with symptoms) to stay home.
  • We eliminated the simple waiting lines at the ski lifts. We give customers the freedom to choose whether or not to be accompanied in the chairs.
  • We have created new outdoor seating areas, including tables and chairs, to provide an additional option for dining outside.
  • We ask customers to follow good hygiene practices inside our facilities and to follow the following instructions:
    - Do not shake hands with people
    - Wash your hands after all use of public spaces (toilet, cafeteria, bar, etc.)
    - Sneeze into the crease of your elbow

Operations will be maintained as per its regular schedule. The chalets are accessible, restaurants and Snow School continues to operate.

Finally, note that this web page contains all the information relating to the situation. It will, therefore, be updated regularly and will evolve according to the directives issued by the public health department as well as the Quebec Ministry of Tourism.

We thank all our customers for the collaboration of their measures due to this unprecedented situation.

Updated March 13, 2020 (5:28 pm)

We would like to inform you that, following the instructions issued by the Alliance of the tourism industry and the Ministry of Tourism of Quebec, Snow School programs will take place as planned this weekend.

Rest assured that the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the public in general, is a priority for les Sommets, and that awareness and information measures have been deployed with our employees and our customers to remind good hygiene practices.

Updated March 13, 2020 (10:58 am)

Government officials have sent essential messages today related to the situation surrounding COVID-19 (coronavirus). Government authorities, through the Ministry of Tourism, confirmed today that ski resorts are not currently affected by the restrictive measures adopted by decree. We can, therefore, continue our usual activities, and that is why our ski centers remain in operation.

Les Sommets is following this matter carefully, and we are taking the situation seriously. We intend to comply with all directives from the Public Health Agency of Canada as well as from provincial authorities.

We remind all of our visitors and employees of the importance of good hygiene practices. As such, we remind you that our health and hygiene standards are diligently observed.

We will notify you of any changes as soon as there is other information available.

We follow the directives given to us by public health daily. We suggest that you contact them directly with any questions relating to the opening of public places, such as shopping centers, cinemas, gyms, ski resorts, etc. Thank you for your understanding.
