Beginner's guide to

skiing and snowboarding

Unparalleled guidance, passionate instructors and adapted terrain where the pleasure of sliding is THE priority - that's what awaits you at les Sommets.

Follow the steps below to make your first skiing or snowboarding experience easier, safer and more enjoyable.

Where to start?

Book online in advance

When you start skiing or snowboarding, you have two options for learning and progressing. The first is to be accompanied by an experienced instructor who will guide you through every step of your learning process. This approach ensures structured and safe learning, ideal for those who prefer to be supervised. Our “Snow School” packages include a ski ticket, equipment rental and a lesson with an instructor.

You can also learn on your own in a specially-designed beginner's area, with a five-step course built to allow you to develop your skills at your own pace. This method offers greater freedom and autonomy, ideal for those who like to be challenged and explore on their own.

Need equipment?

Focus on the pleasure of sliding by renting quality equipment at affordable rates. All our ski and snowboard rentals with boots include a helmet for your safety. What's more, many instructor packages include rental equipment.

Wear warm clothes

If you're getting ready to play in the snow, dress accordingly! Do like the onion and opt for layers that you can remove as needed. Don't forget to cover your extremities; fingers, toes, and nose are sensitive to the cold.

Lined gloves or waterproof mittens are a must to keep your hands warm and dry.

Take care of your extremities!

A thin toque under the helmet or a padded helmet are suggested for sliding sports.

All our packages include a helmet.

Make sure you have a good pair of stockings. Choose synthetic and wool fibers.

Our on-site and online stores offer a wide selection.

A winter coat and snow pants are a must when spending the day in the snow!

A pair of jeans is not enough ;)

Familiarize yourself with the mountain

Arrive early

If you have booked a lesson, please arrive at the ski area at least 30 minutes before the lesson starts, or at least 60 minutes in advance if equipment rental is required.

Explore your Summit to familiarize yourself with the resort before you arrive.
