Les Sommets wins Conversion Cup

Quebec company first in Canada to receive this award

The Les Sommets group is very proud to confirm that it has won the prestigious Conversion Cup Challenge, after being ranked among the finalists for two consecutive years. Presented annually by the NSAA (National Ski Area Association), this award highlights the efforts made by ski resorts in North America to convert novices into snow sports enthusiasts. Following a long evaluation process, the 2019 results were finally announced this morning in California at the NSAA’s annual convention.

Thanks to their conversion results and initiatives such as the ski box and TBL (terrain-based learning), Les Sommets distinguished itself as the most visionary partners in the industry. As a result, the group is delighted to take the highest honours.

“We are extremely proud to receive the prestigious NSAA Conversion Cup. This shows that the efforts of all our employees over the past several years are paying off. They are enhancing the experience of new skiers to make it easy, enjoyable and fun,” said Simon Pagé, Director of the Les Sommets Snow School. “This recognition motivates us to move forward and break down barriers. It drives us to innovate year after year.”

The joy of learning

In addition to adding a permanent ski box at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, allowing new skiers to easily access their rental skis outside the chalet, the snow school also reorganized its reception structure. The “one-stop shop” was introduced last winter (2017-2018) at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, again to make it easier to welcome new skiers and snowboarders. To prevent wasted time and confusion, they brought the ticket office, rental service and snow school counter together under one roof, to the delight of everyone.

 Additional recognition

Also at the NSAA convention in San Diego, Simon Pagé, Director of Customer Experience at Sommet Saint-Sauveur and Director of Snow Schools and Sales at Les Sommets, was presented with the SAMMY Leadership Award.

This recognition from SAM (Ski Area Management) magazine rewards ski resort professionals who have demonstrated enthusiasm and creativity in the middle of their career, in addition to shaping the future of skiing throughout North America. The winners of this award are selected through a peer nomination process. Simon is the third Quebecer to receive this recognition.

Finally, there’s the big innovation of the season: the launch of the “Discovery Experience,” a new program featuring consulting instructors. All skiers and snowboarders have access to advice from instructors, who are on hand every weekend on the slopes of Sommet Saint-Sauveur and on Versant Avila. These instructors, posted at the various stages of the learning area, support beginning skiers and snowboarders in their first attempts, to make their experience enjoyable and stress-free.

The company is proud of all its innovations and would like to thank the NSAA and its industry partners, such as ASSQ and SNOW Operating, for their support in developing the sport. Finally, the Les Sommets group would like to thank the thousands of guests who chose to learn on their mountains, now recognized as the best place in North America to learn snow sports.
