Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what equipment to buy for my child?

  • You can consult the linked document (french only) as a reference.

  • It is important to note that for skis and boots, everyone's needs are different. Please consult the representative of your favorite ski brand or your kid’s coaches for better advice.

How often should ski maintenance be done?

(Sharpening, waxing)

  • Preferably after every training. Depending on the use and the snow conditions, maintenance after 2 or 3 training sessions should be ok.

  • Obviously, skis must be well prepared before each race.

Where can I sharpen and wax my skis?

  • We have a maintenance center with race service available at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, in the new building near the Sommet Express lift.

  • You can also do your skis maintenance yourself at home. You can buy or order the necessary equipment at the Sommet Saint-Sauveur's Boutique.

Where do kids have lunch?

  • Unless otherwise indicated, lunch hour is always at the station's dedicated Chalet. More details about the exact location will be shared at the beginning of the season by each ski team.

Can I pick up my child during lunchtime?

  • Yes, kids are your responsibility during lunchtime, so you can pick them up and get lunch elsewhere if you want.

  • For U8 and U10, parents must sign the following form (french only) if they want their kids to leave alone to go eat lunch at home.

Are parents required to volunteer?

  • Registering your child in an alpine ski club means that he will participate in a racing circuit. The organization and holding of these races are the responsibility of the parents of each club. Each club is responsible for organizing several races during the season. Your involvement during these races is essential to ensure the smooth running and quality of events.

  • All relevant information regarding volunteering (such as the number of days required per family, the different types of work available, and registration) will be shared by the board of directors of the ski team at the start of the season.

In addition to the program registration costs, are there any other fees to be expected?

  • To be registered in good standing with the ski team, additional costs are to be expected :

    • Contribution to the Quebec Alpine Ski Federation (SQA).

    • Contribution to the Laurentian Ski Division (DLS). These costs include, among other things, the race fees for the entire season in the Laurentians and Lanaudière region, including tickets for these races.

    • Contribution (membership) to your ski team.

  • Details about additional costs will be shared by your ski team before the beginning of the season.
