Les Sommets is proud to announce that it has won the prestigious Conversion Cup Challenge, having been a finalist two years running. Awarded annually by the NSAA (National Ski Area Association), this cup recognizes the efforts made by ski resorts in North America to convert neophytes into snow sports enthusiasts. Following a lengthy evaluation process, the 2019 results were finally unveiled this morning in California at the NSAA annual convention.
Thanks to its conversion results and initiatives such as La Boîte à ski and TBL (terrain-based learning), the group stood out as one of the best visionary partners in the industry. Les Sommets is therefore delighted to receive this award.
“We are extremely proud to receive the prestigious Conversion Cup from the NSAA. It shows that the efforts made by all our employees over the last few years are bearing fruit: they are enhancing the experience of beginners to make it easy, enjoyable and fun,” says Simon Pagé, director of Les Sommets snow sports school. This recognition motivates us to want to move forward and remove barriers It pushes us to want to innovate year after year.
The pleasure of initiation
In addition to adding a permanent Ski Box at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, giving new skiers easy access to their rental skis outside the lodge, the ski school has reorganized its reception structure. The “One-stop-shop” made its debut last winter (2017-2018) at Sommet Saint-Sauveur, again with the aim of making it easier to welcome new skiers and snowboarders. To avoid wasting time and confusion, the ticket office, rental service and snow school counter have all been merged under one roof, much to everyone's delight.
Finally, the major innovation of the season: the introduction of the 'Expérience Découverte', a new instructor-advisor program. All skiers and snowboarders have access to advice from instructors on the slope schools at Sommet Saint-Sauveur and on the Avila side of the mountain, every weekend. Stationed at various stages of the learning zone, the instructors support new skiers and snowboarders in their first attempts, to ensure that their experience is pleasant and stress-free.
Further recognition
at Sommet Saint-Sauveur and Les Sommets' ski schools and sales, was awarded the SAMMY LEADERSHIP AWARD.
Recognized by SAM (Ski Area Management) magazine, this award recognizes mid-career resort professionals who demonstrate enthusiasm and creativity, and who are shaping the future of skiing throughout North America. Winners of the award are selected through a peer nomination process. Simon is the third Quebecer to receive this recognition.
Proud of all its innovations, the company would like to thank the NSAA and its industry partners such as ASSQ and SNOW Operating for their support in the development of the sport. Finally, Les Sommets would like to thank the thousands of customers who have chosen to take their first steps on our mountains, now recognized as the best place in North America to learn snow sports.
